New Member Class – August 27

An open invitation to those who are new to the community of First Presbyterian. We would love for you to be our guest on Sunday, June 11 for a special opportunity to get to know each other a little better! Our program begins at 10:00 am with a open discussion with the pastoral staff. We will worship together (in the sanctuary) at 11:00 am and then continue our discussion (your questions and distinctives of the Presbyterian church) over lunch. The last order of business will be to welcome you to church membership if you desire!

Share your RSVP and any dietary restrictions or childcare needs with Pam Schweizer, Pastors’ Assistant, by email or by calling (941) 955-8119.

We are delighted you have been attending our church and hope you have found a home with us here at First Presbyterian Church. After attending a new member class, you will be invited to join our church in one of three ways including: letter of transfer, profession of faith and reaffirmation of faith.

To be Presbyterian is to join a way of life informed by a particular rhythm: God calls us in grace and love; we respond in gratitude.

+ Regular Attendance is important for all Christians, for Christ calls us into community. The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews wrote: “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some …” (Hebrews 10:24 -25)

+ Financial Support is considered a privilege by the Apostle Paul and with this in mind he wrote to the early Church in Corinth: “God loves a cheerful giver.” (2 Corinthians 9:7)

+ Christian Service is also taught in the Scriptures as a vital part of Christian life.
