Come celebrate the Risen Lord!

Sunday, April 1

8:15 am Worship (Sanctuary)

9:30 am Worship (Fellowship Hall)

11:00 am Worship (Sanctuary)

Joining with our choir at 8:15 and 11:00 AM will be string quintet, timpani, and special guest Jenny Kim-Godfrey, a magnificent soprano and rising star on the local opera scene. Two guest string players will join our New Song band at 9:30 AM.  Nursery care will be available if your family should need it.  A reception will be held in the courtyard all morning with our beautiful flowered cross.

During Holy Week our church is busy with members, family members, and friends from the community preparing to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord.  The week starts on Palm Sunday with the commemoration of Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem. It continues on Maundy Thursday with a retelling of the story of the Last Supper, and Jesus’ betrayal by a disciple. On Good Friday the church gathers to remember Jesus’ death on the cross. And on Easter we proclaim the Resurrection, and celebrate the assurance that not even death could separate us from God’s grace.

Sunday, March 25

All Worship Services

Holy Week begins with Jesus triumphal entry into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The crowds welcome Jesus as they would welcome a king, with palm branches and shouts of Hosanna. Worshippers are invited to bring a palm frond from their yard to participate in our processionals.  Egg Hunt will be held at 10:00 am that morning!  Learn more about the Egg Hunt here.

Wednesday, March 28

5:00 pm - Fellowship Hall

Come live the Last Supper in the fellowship hall with your church family during our Wednesday Nights at First Program. There will be intergenerational activities for all - footwashing, prayer stations, and banquet-style dinner. Biblical dress is encouraged. Meaningful (and not scary) way for young families to observe the events of Holy Week.

Thursday, March 29

7:00 pm - Sanctuary

On Maundy Thursday we gather in the Sanctuary at 7:00 pm at the Lord’s table and recall Jesus’s words – “Do this in remembrance of me.”

Friday, March 30

12 noon - Sanctuary

Good Friday helps us to recall the crucifixion and death of Christ through the narration of the events of the day. Good Friday comes from the middle English from “God’s Friday.”  Contemplative service will be held in the sanctuary at 12 noon.
